ACTIVATIONS TEAM LEADER – GAUTENG x 1

Reports To:
CSI & Events Manager / Group Marketing Operations Manager

Purpose:
You will play a vital role in igniting excitement around the WSB Brand through engaging activations.
Your primary objective will be securing high-quality activation opportunities in and around the
Johannesburg and Pretoria regions continually. You will oversee marketing campaigns and execute
activation initiatives from inception to completion, ensuring a consistent, high-level representation
of our brand. You’ll be responsible for the enablement of the activations team, articulating, and
conveying their acquisition targets while striving to achieve your own, as you’ll always need to
expand your client base through new customer acquisition. You’ll be responsible for the training and
upskilling of the activation and retail teams, as well as WSB customers. You will ensure the success
and excitement of customer registrations for yourself, your external Activations, and in-store Retail
Marketing Team.

Essential Functions:
• Deliver exceptional customer support and promptly address inquiries effectively;
• Educate customers about our platform’s features, promotions, betting options, and general
functionality;
• Serve as a brand ambassador, fostering connections with new and existing customers;
• Develop a database of trustworthy promoters, to assist as casual workers, at bigger events
etc;
• Oversee distribution of promotional items at events and all in-store promotions, ensuring
inventory safety;
• Diligently manage own database of customers, casual promoters, partnerships & external
service providers;
• Collaborate closely with the CSI & Events Manager / Group Marketing Operations Manager
to elevate the registrations, and activations impact;
• Act as a liaison between Marketing and various other departments, handling requests and
tasks efficiently;
• Lead the execution of marketing initiatives, ensuring a high-level brand representation
throughout;
• Be the support structure for the activation arm of WSB in GP by leading and growing the
team as required;
• Coordinate activations at external sites, events, and service providers from start to finish, as
first point of contact;
• Organise, coordinate, and oversee VIP events in collaboration with WSB Management;
• Supervise the Retail Marketing Officers (RMO) rosters and track individual performances;
• Address any additional requirements as directed by the executive management team;
• Transport activation team and branding materials, to and from activation sites daily;
• Assist with site establishments, customer acquisition, and the upskilling of staff and
customers;
• Lead by example, actively participating as a pivotal component of the team;
• Coordinate national activations calendar;
• Take ownership of company activation reports and provide thorough, timely feedback on all
reports.

• Essential qualities include reliability and trustworthiness;
• A customer-centric mindset combined with a professional and polished appearance;
• Strong verbal communication skills with a touch of creative flair;
• Fluency in both English and IsiZulu, enhancing client engagement (SeSotho advantageous);
• The ability to remain composed and manage multiple tasks under pressure;
• An outgoing personality and exceptional interpersonal skills;
• Self-motivated and capable of motivating others;
• Previous experience in team leadership, ideally in the online betting or related industry;
• Proven ability to generate, identify, and actively pursue activation opportunities;
• A high level of integrity, responsibility, and accountability.
Requirements: Experience, Education and Other:
• A minimum of a Grade 12 education or higher, along with a valid driver’s license, are
mandatory requirements;
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a customer-focused role with knowledge of the
betting/gaming industry;
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in above-the-line marketing would prove beneficial;
• Prior front-of-house customer service experience is essential (VIP experience is considered a
strong advantage);
• Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work
independently and efficiently;
• Proficiency in multitasking and thriving in a high-pressure work environment;
• Engaging with others in a respectful manner, while maintaining a motivated and high-
spirited team morale;
• Being coachable and capable of following reasonable instructions;
• A strong sense of pride in the work performed by your teams and yourself.

Additional Requirements:
• Flexibility to travel;
• Availability to work weekends, public holidays, long shifts and / or extended hours.
